Episode six of the Corvette Racing Track to Street series went up this week and as expected, it's a recap of what went down at the 24 Hours of Le Mans last month. 2010 marked the 50th anniversary or the American sports car's first appearance at the French endurance race and a parade of 50 'Vettes took to the track prior to the race.

By now you've no doubt heard that Audi returned to the top of the podium at the 24 Hours of Le Mans this year after losing out to Peugeot in 2009. Even though the Audi R15+ was much improved this year, it still didn't have the outright speed to match the French diesels. Still, the extra speed did allow the Audis to push the Peugeots

Fifty-five years ago this weekend, at the 24 Hours of Le Mans motor race, a combination of high speeds, bad luck and the ultimate wrong-place-at-the-wrong-time conditions contributed to the worst disaster in motorsports history, one that left more than 80 people -- including spectators and drivers -- dead. Since that day in 1955, no race has ever seen as many fatalities and no racing incident has had such an impact on safety both at that race and throughout the world.
